Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel and PowerPoint 2007 File Formats

The new Office Open XML Formats has been added to the Microsoft Office Word 2007, Excel 2007 and PowerPoint 2007. As a result of that, the default file format .doc has been changed to .docx. It has also been changed for Excel and PowerPoint too. The new file format is .xlsx and .pptx for Excel and PowerPoint respectively. You can’t open these files in earlier version of Office like 2000/XP/2003. So, Microsoft has developed a Compatibility Pack to correct this problem.

Addition of Office Open XML Formats in Word, Excel and PowerPoint reduces file size, improves security and reliability, and enhances integration with external sources.

By using the Compatibility Pack for the 2007 Office system, you can open, edit, and save Office Word 2007 documents in previous versions of Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Tips:
You must have all the latest service packs and security updates installed for the Compatibility Pack to install and work properly.

Introduction to IEEE 802.11 Standards

IEEE 802.11, 802.11a, 802.11b and 802.11g are wireless local area networking (WLAN) standards. This is also known as Wi-Fi.

This is very important to know if you are buying a laptop or desktop with Wireless Network Card. These standards vary in terms of frequency and speed from each other.

802.11 - This standard was adopted in 1997 by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) for wireless devices operating in the 2.4 GHz frequency band. This standard supports three radio technologies:

  1. Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum (DSSS)
  2. Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum (FHSS)
  3. Infrared
Data Speed: Devices that comply with this (i.e. 802.11) standard supply either 1 or 2 Megabits per second bandwidth.

WLAN is different from wired LAN. So, IEEE 802.11 standard also includes issues like access to the network (i.e. addressing), bandwidth, privacy of the wireless traffic and power management as most of the wireless LAN NICs are available in PCMCIA Type II format.

802.11b – The IEEE 802.11 standard was modified in 1999 and that was called 802.11a. The data speed was increased to 11 Mbits/sec and 802.11b devices are backward compatible with IEEE 802.11 – 2.4 GHz devices.

802.11a – IEEE 802.11 standard was further modified in 1999 to support 5GHz frequency band and it was referred 802.11a. Unlike the 802.11b wireless devices, 802.11a wireless device uses Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing radio technology. This increased the data rates to 54 Mbits/sec. The data rate up to 108 Mbits/sec is also possible with the use of 2X Turbo Mode. But 2XTM is not part of the 802.11a standard.

802.11g – IEEE 802.11 was modified again in 2002 to achieve 54 Mbits/sec data speed. 802.11g wireless devices operate in 2.4 GHz frequency band and uses Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing radio technologies. 802.11g wireless devices are backward compatible with 802.11b wireless devices.

Recommendation: When you buy a laptop with built in wireless technologies, always check these standards. I recommend for having 802.11b/g. This is very commonly used.

How to Create, Store and Open a PST file in Ms Outlook

In most cases, Inbox size is limited in corporate email account and we are forced to use MS Outlook. There is an archive feature in MS Outlook which can be used to archive our old emails to the computer’s hard drive. But if you want real control over your email, then you must learn how to create, store and open a .pst file in Outlook.

PST stands for Personal Store Table. PST file is basically a complex database and it contains your email messages, calendar, contacts and some other items.

How to create a .pst file:

  • Go to My Computer -> C: drive -> File -> New ->Folder
  • Rename that folder as email pst
  • Open Ms Outlook and go to File -> New -> Outlook Data File
  • Select Office Outlook Personal Folders File (.pst) from the list and click OK
  • In the Save in box, locate your folder email pst that you have just created in C: drive. In the File name box, type your logon name and click OK.
  • Another windows pops up, again type your logon name in Name field and click OK. (Don’t change any other setting in this windows)
Now you have created a pst file in your computer’s hard drive. You can open it and make it visible in the left pane of Ms Outlook windows. It will show up with your logon name.

Follow the steps to open the pst file:
  • Open the Ms Outlook and go to - File > Open > Outlook Data File
  • Browse your C: drive to locate email pst folder you have just created and double click on the pst file. It should be your logon name followed by .pst extension if you have followed the exact above instructions.
  • Now the Personal Folder File should be located in the Folder List in your Outlook tree (i.e. go to View > Folder List).
How to store or save your email in the pst file:
  • Create folder by right clicking on the pst file shown in the left pane of the outlook. You can also make sub folders.
  • To save mail to that location, click on an email message in your Inbox. Then Drag it to the desired folder and drop it. That email message will be moved from the inbox to the new folder.

Extra Info:
1. .pst has bad reputation of being breaking and inaccessible. In Outlook 2000, the .pst file size was limited to a 2GB. The retrieval of .pst file was sometimes difficult if the pst file size was near the limit or exceeded. Keeping that in view, the .pst file size was increased to 20GB in Ms Outlook 2003. Microsoft also has got a repair tool called Scanpst.exe to repair corrupted .pst file.

2. In Outlook 2002 and earlier, the .pst files are in the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) format, and the overall size has a limit of 2 gigabytes (GB).

3. By default, .pst files are in the Unicode format in Outlook 2007 and in Outlook 2003.

4. The .pst file has a different format and folder size limit in Outlook 2007 and in Outlook 2003.

A Short note of most useful HTML tags

What is HTML?

HTML
stands for HyperText Markup Language. Basically, it is an authoring language which is used to create documents on the World Wide Web. It describes how a set of text, images, sounds and links should be displayed in a browser. HTML is a Platform Independent Language. Platform Independent means you can write HTML code on any computer running MS Windows, Linux or UNIX. The only thing you should remember is that you should save your file as text file (ASCII).

Basic Structure of an HTML Page:

<html>

<head>

<title>You can write the title of your web page here</title>

</head>

<body>

<p> This is test paragraph.</p>

</body>

</html>

Explaination of each tag used above-

1. <html> - This tag tells the browser that it is a html page and the html starts from there. This has ending tag </html>.

2. <head> - There are few extra informations about your webpage like title, meta name etc goes inside <head> tag. This has ending tag </head>.

3. <title> - This tag defines the title of your web page. This has ending tag <title>.

4. <body> - Contents of the web page is included inside <body> tag. It has ending tag </body>.

Now get ready to write your very first web page using Microsoft Windows text editor Notepad.

  • Open the Notepad ( Start – Programs – Accessories – Notepad). Copy the text from up, paste it in the Notepad and save it as per the instruction below.
  • Save your file (File – Save As – index.htm or index.html or anything with .html file extension). Changed the Save as Type to All Files as seen in Red Circle in the screenshot.
  • Open the saved file in Internet Explorer.

HTML generally has 2 parts an on-code and off-code, which contains the text to be defined.

Note: Few Tags doesn’t require an off-code.

Syntax:

< tagname > .......... </tagname> :- on-code
< tagname > :- off-code

The most important thing to keep in mind about HTML is that its purpose is not to specify the exact formatting or layout of a web page, but rather to define and specify the specific elements that make up a page such as the body of the text, heading, paragraph, line breaks, text elements and so on. We use “Tag” or “Tag Element” for this purpose. Tags are inserted between < and > symbols and it’s not case-sensitive. But I recommend to use only lowercase. This is just to avoid some problem with CSS (Cascaded Style Sheet).

There are two types of Tag:
  1. Container Tag: It bracket or contains text or other tag elements. Usually it has start & end tag.
  2. Empty Tag: It is a standalone & doesn’t bracket or contain text or any other tag elements.

Attribute

This allows us to specify how web browser should treat a particular tag & is included within the actual tag, either within start tag or an empty tag.

Syntax: Attribute=”value”.

Now let’s start with Tag Listing & their respective explanation

1. DOCUMENT TAG:
All HTML files should include at least these 4 Tags

- HTML tag:
This is the top-most tag used in HTML document which identifies it as a HTML document. It is a container tag.

- HEAD tag:
This is nested within the HTML tag and contains information about the HTML file.
Syntax:

<HTML>

<HEAD>
…………………
</HEAD>
</HTML>

- TITLE tag:
This is nested within HEAD tag. The tag output is displayed on the browser’s title bar but doesn’t appear as part of that page.
Syntax:

<HTML>
<HEAD>
<TITLE>
...........
</TITLE>
</HEAD>
</HTML>

-BODY tag:
This is the compliment of the HEAD tag and contains all of the tags or elements that a browser actually displays as the body of the HTML document.
Syntax:

<HTML>
<HEAD>
<TITLE>
<BODY>
.....…
</BODY>
</TITLE>
</HEAD>
</HTML>

2. STRUCTURING WEB PAGE TAG: It is basically Heading Tag. These are 6 tags.

Heading Tag

<H1> .......... </H1> : This is a top level heading
<H2> .......... </H2> : This is 2nd level heading
<H3> .......... </H3> : This is 3rd level heading
<H4> .......... </H4> : This is 4th level heading
<H5> .......... </H5> : This is 5th level heading
<H6> .......... </H6> : This is 6th level heading

3. PARAGRAPH & LINE BREAK TAGS: These are P & BR tags used to insert block and line of text on the web page.

Syntax:

<HTML>
<HEAD>
<TITLE>
<BODY>
<H1> THIS IS TO SHOW TAGS IMPLEMENTATION </H2>
<P> This is the Sample Page Text </P>
This is second line of sample text
<BR>
This is third sample text
</BODY>
</TITLE>
</BODY>

4. ADDING COMMENTS: This is a stand-alone tag that allows us to include comments for future reference like other computer languages.

Syntax: < ! This is my comment tag >

5. FORMATTING TEXT TAGS: Tags are explained one by one

Syntax:

<B> : used to format a text bold, this is literal tag
<I> : used to format a text italic, this is also literal tag
<EM> : used as bold tag, this is a logical tag
<STRONG> : used for strong emphasis, it is also a logical tag
<BLOCKQUOTE> : This tag double-indent a block of text from both margins.

Syntax:

<BLOCKQUOTE> ………………… </BLOCKQUOTE>
<PRE> : This is preformatted text used to display a block of “preformatted” text in a monospace, fixed-pitch font.

Syntax: <PRE> ……………… </PRE>

6. LIST CREATING TAG: There are 2 types of links tag

Syntax:

<ol> : Ordered tag, defines a sequentially numbered list

Syntax:

<ol>
<li>
..........
</li> - List item tag comes under <OL> tag
</ol>
<ul> : Unordered list, defines a bulleted list of items.

Syntax:

<ul>
<li>
........
</li>
</ul>

Note: It is also possible to nest a list inside another list. The browser automatically indents nested list levels. We can nest the same or different kinds of lists. TYPE attribute like “A”, “a”, “I”, “i” or “1” can be set. Syntax is <ol type=”attrib”>. “START” attrib is used to start numbering sequence at a particular number.
Syntax is - <ol start=”3”>

7. DEFINITION LIST TAG: This tag allows to create glossaries or list of terms and definitions. It consists of three tag elements: DL (define list), DT (define term), and DD (define definition).

Syntax:

<dl>
<dt> Sample term <dd> explanation of term

8. HYPERTEXT LINK TAG: Allows us to create links to other HTML documents or data objects, to other places in the same HTML document, or to places in other HTML documents.This tag is composed of 3 elements: start and end tags that encloses the whole link, the link target and link text.

I got page Rank 3 in 3 months

I started Digital Knowledge Center in November, 2006. My plan for the blog was to share my knowledge in the Hardware and Networking, software reviews, technology news and whatever I learn new including SEO, monetizing website or blog etc. I have posted so far about Windows, some How to Tutorials, Desktop Themes (Microsoft only), some blogger tips which I incorporated with this blog, and adsense etc. This is not the complete list. I have just listed some of the categories I have covered so far in this blog.

Initially, my main attention was to create quality content so I wasn’t very involved in promoting the blog. It was very exciting when I first saw the page rank on this blog few weeks ago. In the first place, I couldn’t believe that. Then I searched page rank tool in Google search to determine I really got the page rank. The result of that is shown in the pic. It is not updated on all of the Google Data Servers across the world yet.

It has been great encouragement for me. I am very happy and want to share my happiness with all of you.

Know multiple stream of site income

If you already have a high traffic website, then you have following options which can make money for you.

1. Advertisement: You can earn handsome money from advertising on your website. Very important note for a newcomer - you can get advertisement for your website even if you are just starting out and your site is relatively unknown.

There are different kind of advertisement which is explained below:

  • Contextual Ads: The good example of this kind of ad is Google Adsense. You only need to paste few line of HTML code on your page which will display ads matching to your page contents. You will get paid for clicks of that displayed ads.
  • In-Text Ads: The advertiser’s link is associated with ordinary keywords in the page. A small amount is paid for every click of that keyword.
  • Links and Banners: You have to display links or banners on your website. You get paid for introducing their products to visitors and get paid a commission by merchant based on Paid per click, Paid per lead or Paid per sale. The good example of this is Commission Junction.
The way to do this is to join as an Affiliate of various websites, either directly or through an Affiliate Network. An Affiliate Network is nothing but an intermediary between you and various other Advertisers. All of them are free. But some of them want you to have a Domain or some of them to have a minimum number of visitors to your website. To join as an Affiliate: just go to the site, register online and after approval from them; cut and paste some html code on your website given by them.

2. Affiliate Marketing: You simply have to direct traffic to affiliate’s website and earn commissions when people buy their products.

4. Reseller Business: You can also make money by promoting a merchant's products as your own business.

5. Sell your own product or services Directly: Like if you have a web site on "making money online" and you are a web designer, you can make an offer to design web site to your visitor, so that they can make money from website.

6. If you have unique and valuable content on your site, then charge a fee to access them.

Payment Schemes:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Before you join any Affiliate Programs, you need to following terms for payment schemes. This will help you choose best affiliate program suitable for your website.

  • Pay Per Impression: Pay Per Impression is also sometimes called as Pay Per Exposures/Page Views. In this, Advertisers pay you based on referral link/banner ads every time displayed on your website. Typically, prices are set per one thousand exposures.
  • Pay Per Click: In this, you only need to pay an Advertiser when a searcher or potential visitor clicks on your listing and connects to your site. You don’t pay to list, or for the impression of your ad; you only pay for clicks or click-troughs. In Contrast, if you are Publisher you only get paid by advertiser when some one click on the PPC ads displayed on your website.
  • Pay Per Sale or Lead: In Pay per Sale, you get paid for every sale made through your website. Pay Per Lead is different. Actually a "pay per lead" is not an actual sale, rather an inquiry.
How to Choose an Affiliate Programs:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
While choosing an affiliate programs, same rule doesn’t apply to all the sites. But there are few guideline you should follow like-
  • Choose according to your website contents, not by affiliate type or Payment Scheme;
  • Stick to only one and well reputed Program that have proven to be good over the years. Because some of them are scam.
Some of the suggested Affiliate Programs are: Google Adsense, Commission Junction, LinkShare, Amazon Associate Program, eBay.com Associate Program, fastadvert.com.

Disclaimer: Use them on your won risk. I don’t endorse or approve the program or any of its contents.

How to promote your website to build traffic

Unfortunately, there is no shortcut way to get traffic to your website. You need to work actively and follow the guidelines mentioned below for that. I believe that your website is ready and online. Next thing is to promote your site so that you can attract traffic towards your website. Only free and reliable methods are discussed to promote your site and which will bring traffic to your site.

1. Get your site work properly: This is very important thing to consider. Before you start promoting your site, you should make sure that your site is complete and well-structured. Otherwise, you won’t be able to retain the incoming visitors.

2. Optimize your site for Search Engines: After your site is ready for human, now the time has come to make it good for search engine so that spider can understand it and give it better ranking in search engine. Read Site Optimization for Search Engines to get more idea about it. This is one of the best and free ways to get visitors to your website. You should optimize your website to get better ranking in search engine. There are only 3 major search engines- Google, Yahoo and MSN and you should try to get listed into them. Submit your site to Google, Yahoo and MSN.

3. Hand Submit to Search Engines: I strongly feel that you should submit your site manually to search engines. Search Engines may punish your site for automatic submission if you are using any robotic submission. Submit your site manually to Google, Yahoo and MSN.

4. Hand Submit to Directories: There are many directories but two of them are very famous. DMOZ and Yahoo Directory is the most preferred directory for Google.

DMOZ (Open Directory): This is a human-edited directory and it's important because Google gets some of its results from DMOZ and listings in DMOZ carry a lot of link weight with Google. Submit your site in right category and don’t submit more than once. That is very important and if you do, you will get banned for spamming and your site will never be listed. Another important thing is that make sure your site is ready before you submit it.

Yahoo Directory: This is another directory which also carries lot of weight link with Google. But it costs $299/year for a product or sales site to be listed in Yahoo. That doesn't guarantee a listing either. It is free for non-commercial sites.

5. Links Exchange: The more sites that link to your site the higher your ranking in Google and some of the other search engines will be, but not all links are created equal. A link from DMOZ is a great link to get. Links from Free for All links pages are worthless. You should exchange links with people that have a website on a topic that's related to what your website is about. Otherwise, there is no use of that. That will not help you in SERP(Search Engine Ranking Page).

6. Paid Advertisement on Pay Per Click Search Engines: This is easy and fast way to attract traffic to your site. But it costs money. If you have budget then this is good option to go for. The beauty of PPCs is that you don’t have to wait for weeks and months to achieve a top ranking for your keyword. Technically, listing is free. Your ad will appear on Google, Yahoo and other search engine and you only have to pay for clicks not for page impression.

Understanding SEO and traffic building

Search Engine is a program which stores information about web pages on the WWW (World Wide Web). Information about web pages is stored in index databases. When a user types any queries in the search engine, then the search engine looks up the stored index database and provides the best matching web page to the user. Here is the point. To maximize the earning you have to get traffic as much as possible. More traffic means more money and search engine has potential to send lots of traffic to your web site. But for that you have to optimize your website for search engine. SEO stands for “Search Engine Optimization”. SEO is a method of improving website ranking in search engine index database. Better the search engine ranking, your page is likely to appear in first few pages of search result. That means more traffic to your website. The following are a few tips which can help you to dramatically improve the ranking of your website in SERP (i.e. Search Engine Result Page) and increase the traffic to your web site.

1. Select Appropriate & Competitive Keyword: There are many sites on the internet that can help you to look for appropriate and competitive keywords for your website. For example, you can use Overture.

2. Use Primary Keyword in File Names: Although, this has little effect. But you should use keyword in naming your HTML file names. Do it for every page of your website.

3. Use Primary Keywords in Page Tile: Always use keywords in Page title because most of the search engine looks for it in the title of the page. You should use the keyword which you are going to use for that particular page of your website. Do it for every page of your website.

4. Use Primary Keyword in Meta Tags: Always use Primary keywords of your web page in the Description Meta Tags and Keyword Meta Tags of your web page. Do it for every web page of your website. But limit the number of characters to 25 and 1000 for Description Meta Tags and Keyword Meta Tags. In addition to that, don’t repeat a keyword for more than 3 times in Keyword Meta Tag.

5. Use Header for Primary Keywords: The first heading in the body should contain the primary keyword. This can be H1, H2, or H3 tags in HTML where 1, 2, 3 indicate the size of the font for the heading.

6. Use Moderate Number of Keyword in Body: Your keyword should appear on the top of body under Header Tag and it should repeat for moderate number of times in the body. Too few occurrences of keyword will not help you and too many occurrences can be considered as “keyword spamming”.

7. Content is the King: Remember People visit your site for information. Information means content. So always use unique content for your site. You can get lot of content free on the web but those will not help your site in Search Engine Ranking Page (SERP). It is simply because the same content may have been used by another site because it is free. In addition to that, many Search Engines may penalize your site for using duplicate content.

8. Get Effective Backward Link to your website: Make sure to trade links with website that are related to your website subject. It makes no sense to trade links with an entertainment site if your website is related to Automobile. The more closely the links on your site are related to your site, the better the chances of being ranked well in search engines. In addition to that, stay away from link exchange sites.

9. Use Links Containing Keywords: While using links, your keyword should appear in the text of a text link on the page. Use it to incorporate keywords or phrases to increase your keyword count. Search engines do consider these and this will help you in search engine page ranking.

10. Use Image Alt Tag: If you are using images in your website then never forget to include a text description of that image in the alt tag. These tags can be used to incorporate keywords or phrases. It will help you to increase keyword counts. Search engines do consider alt tags in their SERP.

11. Dynamic Vs Static Web Pages: If your website is static then it will be indexed easily by Search engine. But if it is Dynamic the Search Engines will have difficulties to spider and understand them. You should really look for techniques which can help you solve that problem. For example, you can use Mod Rewrite if you are using Apache Web Server. That may help you solve that problem. That Generates Static HTML Pages.

12. Update Your Site Regularly: Search Engines love growing sites. So Keep adding contents to your site as much as possible and update it for even small changes you do. Search Engines give better rankings to sites that update their site contents often.

13. Use Sitemap: Always add Site-Map Button and include all the pages of your site in that page so that spider can find and index them.

14. Site Maturity: If your wallet gives you permission, register you Domain Name for 5 years at least. Page ranking also depends upon the maturity of the site. Older site gets better rankings and will have more indexed pages.

15. Add ROR & Robots.txt: ROR gives information about site and it is in XML. Generate an ROR file for your site, and then paste a button to the main page of your website. When the Search Engines spider your site, they'll spider this file and have a better description of what your site is about. Also create a robots.txt file because this will tell the search engines what not to spider on your site.

16. Submit your site to Directories: Manually submit your site to different directories with different description & categories. This one convinces the search engine that you have submitted the site manually. Hence, Search Engine will not penalize your site for automated submission by Software. Submitting to DMOZ Directory and Yahoo Directory will help you a lot. DMOZ Directory is Open Source Directory and on the other hand, Yahoo Directory is paid one except for non-commercial site. Please don’t submit your site to DMOZ and Yahoo Directory unless it is fully ready.

17. Submit Your Site to Search Engines: You can submit your website to many search engines for free. Try adding your site to 3 major search engines - Google, Yahoo and MSN manually.

The above mentioned tips present good,and solid way to optimize your website for different search engines. There are few things which I would like to mention you should avoid doing:

1. Avoid Automated Submission: Avoid using automated submission to search Engines. Search Engine may penalize your site for using automated submission tools.

2. Avoid Repetitive submissions: Repetitive submissions don’t improve the ranking of your site in search engine.

3. Avoid Black Hat SEO tricks: Avoid using the text that is same as background once used by Black Hat SEO. This was used by SEO to increase the keyword count without displaying the text to actual viewers. You site will be surely get penalized for that if you use this trick in your site.

4. Avoid Frames, Flash and Java: Avoid using Frames, Flash and Java in your Web Page. Search Engine finds them difficult to understand.

5. Avoid Meta Refresh Command: Avoid using Meta Refresh command to automatically direct a web page to another.

6. Avoid Broken Links, Broken Images & Under Construction Pages: Search Engines hate broken links, broken images and under construction Pages. So check your site for all these things before you submit it to anywhere.

How to make money on the internet

Your success on internet business totally depends upon your interest, dedication and passion towards your work. You must have highly targeted focus. There is a tremendous competition on internet business, so you will only become successful by becoming an expert at something and working on that with passion. There is no easy money making scheme available on internet so I would expect you to be innovative, a big thinker and willing to give everything to your work.

The basic way to make money on internet is to sell/promote your own or somebody else’s product, services or information. The very first step to online business is to decide on product or set of products you want to sell or promote. You can choose one product or set of product from the same family and focus on that. Initially, it is advised to sell or promote someone else’s product. You can develop your own later as you will start to develop your skills. The next step is to design and develop your website and host it on a server to make available for the world. Now you have to generate very high traffic to your website. The simple and basic for making serious money from your website is the high traffic. Some of the most effective traffic building techniques are press release, posting articles, classified and email campaign.

As you start getting traffic to your website, you need to know various Internet Income Streams. The genuine methods of generating income from your website are Affiliate Programs, Google Adsense, Ad placement on your website, Sale of your own or somebody’s Product / Knowledge and your expertise in a particular field, Auction Goods, Sell e-Books/Articles/other written materials, and Banners.

If you participate in an affiliate Program, you receive commission on each sale of that product. In that case, you have to place ad for that product on your website. With your own product you would make a profit on each sale based on your sale price minus the cost of materials, shipping and other expenses. With Affiliate Marketing, you have review equipment and have product links carrying your affiliate tracking code and you get preset commission on each sell of the product. Which ever route is taken you need to balance the following factors for maximum profits:

Maximize Visitors as much as possible: The more people that see your ads, the more will click and buy.

Maximize Profit: Adjust the selling price to balance sales volumes at the point where maximum profit is produced.

Minimize costs: it can be done by reducing shipping costs and administration costs. One of the best ways to do this is to market digital products such as software and e-Books that don't require physical shipping.

Maximize commission: Look for large commission percentages and high conversion rates in affiliate partnerships.

Once you have an idea of how everything works, concentrate your effort on a particular website. The key to success of your highly focused website is creating a sufficient unique and interesting content on the narrow subject that is targeted. This will attract both visitors and search engine.

Some facts to consider about success of your internet Business:

  • You have to optimize your site for various search engine;
  • Build backlinks to your website as much as you can;
  • Add Meta Tag and H1 Tag properly;
  • Research and Place right Keywords for your website Theme;
  • Sign up to many directories;
  • Add new pages to your site atleast once in week if it your site is informative;
  • Keep index page interesting but search engine friendly;

Unless you have done all the above, your site can’t make serious money. Never change your website contents in one go or any progress you have made will be lost. This is worth to follow. For example: if you want to change the look of your website, change it slowly over weeks rather than days.

A daily action plan is required to generate slow and steady traffic from search engines. It will attract more visitors, hence more money.

Do these things on daily basis:

  • Contribute your articles to different websites (at least once in a week);
  • Contribute to Forums (daily basis);
  • Blog Regularly.
You can make big money on internet. But it is very time taking process and needs lots of your dedication to your work. I wish you all the best in your Endeavour.

Note: Don't be mistaken by thinking that having a wesite and signing for affiliate program doesn't mean that your website will start generating money while you are sleeping. You really have to work hard to make your dream into realization. Self detemination and conscious decision will make your dream true.You have to fine tune your website. Some of the useful tips are mentioned below:

  • It will take time and will improve overtime. As i mentioned earlier that it needs your patience. Don't expect it to happen overnight.
  • Target right audience and advertise for them on your site.
  • Advertisement about free stuff works better than anything.
  • Traffing is the key to your success. No Traffic to your site means no money at all.
  • Content is the King. You should really have to have good content which will attract repeating visitors.
  • Credibility will count. Honesty is the best business policy.
  • Text Links ads works better than Banner ads
  • Keep your ads rotating

How to get contents for your website

Most of the time people surfing net looks for quality information. Quality information means quality content. Quality content increases number of visitors to you website. Quality content is the king for your website. The succeess of your website depends on the contents. Now the question is how to get contents for your website. I will tell you some obvious and easy way to get contents for your website. Although, creating contents is a crtical issue. But i believe if you know the shortcuts, then creating contents doesn't have to be difficult.The obvious way to create content is writing it yourself or get someone else to write it for you. Most people find it very difficult to write, and even if they find it easy, the results are less appealing. The other option - get someone else to write for you costs money. Here the shortcuts comes. The trick to that shortcut is to use someone else's contenst for your site.

Here are the three most preferred ways to get content for your website:

  1. Write Your Own Content: This is the most obvious way to write content for many small site owners. This is not a bad idea. Many of that kind of sites are there online and doing well. The big problem with this one is that it is a very time consuming job. But if you decide to do so, use the search engine to track down related articles to your subject area and get some idea from there.
  2. Get Someone Else to Write For You: You may find someone who can write for your website. In my opinion you can't force someone to write for your website. But you can find lot of people who can write for you if you pay them. The very important thing to consider when you are paying someone to write for you - don't forget to get a contract saying that the work is a "work for hire" and that you are buying all the rights to it.
  3. Find Free Content for your site: This is the most simple way to get contents for your website. Here you are going to use other people's content for your website. There are plenty of free articles on the net which you can use for your website. Some of them need permission to do that and some of them don't. You can change the content little bit, re-arrange them accoring to your page layout. But all this depends uopn the permission you get from the original writer. Search the web for "free articles", you will find many websites which can let you use their articles for your website. Check the copyright for that particular site before you start using their content on your site.

I love one source which is really good for you get free content. That is Government source. Government spends millions of dollars creating contents and they are usually not copyright protected. But check it before you start using it. Some of them are still copyright protected. Other ways to get free content are website and e-mail newsletters, open content and copyleft contents. you can check the Open Directory Project's Open Content Page for that.
